Popular Front of Latvia – for a Democratic Latvia!
This exhibition is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Popular Front of Latvia (PFL). It depicts the conditions and processes leading to the emergence of the largest grassroots movement in Latvian history, as well as the organisational structure and objectives of the PFL’s activities.
The PFL was the phenomenon of Latvia’s Third Awakening – an organisation that was able to unite more than 25 000 Latvians to regain an independent, free and democratic Latvia. The exhibition highlights the formation of the PFL’s highly decentralised regional chapters and groups in Latvia, the formation of PFL support groups abroad and the support of exiled Latvians. A significant number of photographs, documents and objects reflect the most significant events of the Third Awakening and the activities of the PFL in chronological order.
