Riga Castle. Eras and Inhabitants
Target audience: Grade 7–12
The lesson, dedicated to exploring Riga Castle, allows pupils to interactively learn about the restored premises and history of the castle by taking on the role of the castle’s inhabitants from different eras.
Procedure: pupils are divided into thematic groups, each with their own assignment. With the help of guide, they get to know different places in the castle and solve tasks to find the “hidden treasure”. By working on their own and listening to the museum educator’s narration, the schoolchildren gain understanding of the important events that took place in Riga Castle and the architecture of the building. Finally, through practical activities, the pupils reinforce the knowledge they have acquired about the castle’s development, its role throughout the centuries up to the present-day.
