How did the Ancients live? (available from year 2025)
Target audience: Grades 5–9
In this lesson pupils increase their knowledge of ancient Latvian history by learning about various archaeological objects – weapons, tools, household items, ceramics, jewellery, and reconstructed clothing – and strengthen their skills to identify and describe various historical sources.
Procedure: the lesson is especially suitable for 7th grade pupils in the subject “Latvian and World History”, studying the topic “Society in Prehistory”. In groups, pupils work hands-on with replicas of archaeological objects: fragments of clay vessels, flint tools, bronze axes, and 3D models of Stone Age objects – a harpoon, fishing rod and arrowhead. This interactive activity encourages pupils to explore, investigate, compare, draw conclusions and create a timeline.
