11 November – Lāčplēsis day

The museum invites to celebrate the Lāčplēšis day at the LNMH located in Riga Castle

On Lāčplēsis day, the Latvian National Museum of History  from 10:00 to 20:00 invites you to remember the freedom fighters and defenders of independence of Latvia, taking the time to get to know them better.

The museum invites you to view a special relic – a complete set of the Lāčplēsis Military Order, which belonged to Latvian Army General Jānis Balodis.

On this day, entrance to the museum will be free, as every year.

Exhibition of the Lāčplēsis Military Order  (on the 2nd floor)

Slideshow “War of Independence in the Photograps of Andrejs Liepiņš”

11:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 19:00 guided tours (in Latvian) in the exhibition

18:00 concert by mixed choir “Dziesmuvara” (University of Latvia)

11 November and 18 November  are special days when the museum at Riga Castle is open to visitors; on other days, we only accept pre-booked school groups. The installation of new exhibitions has begun in the museum premises, and the reopening of the exhibitions and castle premises for permanent visits is planned for spring 2026.
