Popular Front Museum exhibition

In 2013, on the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the Popular Front of Latvia, a new exhibition, “Awakening–Popular Front of Latvia–Independence”, was created. It focuses on the Third Awakening, and the role of the Popular Front of Latvia in restoring Latvia’s independence.

The permanent exhibition is spread over three floors and is visually linked by the symbol of the morning star (Auseklis in Latvian) used in the interior and design elements. Modern design and technology allow visitors to gain information and emotionally experience the events reflected in the exhibition.

In March 2016, a new exhibition part on the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Latvia was added. Here, visitors can sit on the hard, uncomfortable seats of the members of the Supreme Soviet and, led by the spokespeople of the time, virtually vote on important laws that still affect our lives today.

The new addition also features recent acquisitions from the personal archives of former members of the Supreme Soviet, the “KGB phone” installed by the Soviet security service for direct communication with Moscow, and other striking features of the period.

Both parts of the exhibition are designed in collaboration with the company Dd Studio.
