Guided tour of Dauderi

On 15 March at 14:00 a guided tour of the museum will take place. As part of the Dauderi permanent exhibition, visitors will be able to see the Villa fon Büngner master’s room, the study of former state president Kārlis Ulmanis, learn about the fate of Dauderi during the Soviet era, and its development into a museum. The second-floor exhibition is dedicated to the fate of Latvia’s cultural and historical heritage in the 20th century. There are also two thematic exhibitions, “Collector’s Cabinet” and “Kitchen, the Villa’s Invisible Side”.

Since February the Dauderi 2nd floor exhibition “The (In)Disappearing Heritage” has been expanded with the theme “The Heritage Lost in War”. This room is dedicated to the heritage physically destroyed in the World Wars. The theme of the exhibition focuses on an original painting by Vilhelms Purvītis and the story of the loss of part of his collection of paintings in 1944. The section as a whole outlines the most significant direct damage to cultural heritage caused by hostilities in both World Wars.

At the Great Salon the visitors will have an opportunity to see the exhibition “Industrial Age” by artist Andris Vītoliņš. It includes works created between 2004 and 2016 and thematically fits into the museum’s series of temporary exhibitions on the urban-industrial environment of Sarkandaugava.

There will also be a possibility to visit the Dauderi garden.

Price – entrance ticket.

The event is in Latvian.
