Dauderi will host a guided tour with a presentation of the new exhibition hall
On 8 February at 14:00 a guided tour of the museum with a presentation of the renewed Dauderi exhibition will take place. The Dauderi 2nd floor exhibition “The (In)Disappearing Heritage” has been expanded with the theme “The Heritage Lost in War”. This room is dedicated to the heritage physically destroyed in the World Wars. The theme of the exhibition focuses on an original painting by Vilhelms Purvītis and the story of the loss of part of his collection of paintings in 1944. The section as a whole outlines the most significant direct damage to cultural heritage caused by hostilities in both World Wars. The exhibition will include both a video on the devastation of war in Riga, Jelgava, etc. (based on archival photographs and video material) and a video projection with digital effects, showing the changes in people’s lives and the object environment around them, contrasting the pre-war and post-war periods. Entrance – 5 euros.
