In the refectory of the Riga Castle on 27 February at 18:00 a concert “Music for a Medieval Banquet” will be held. Early Music Department students and teachers of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music will perform medieval music.
Selection of medieval music from Germany, France, Italy, and England will be performed at the Riga Castle hall, which once served as the dining hall of the Master. The concert program includes vivid, richly textured compositions interpreted by young musical chefs: the motet starter “In seculum” from the Bamberg Codex, the rich songs of the Italian Trecento, the sweet and sour polyphonic masterpieces of France and England, and the sparkling keyboard music desserts of the Faenza Codex.
Tickets: 5 EUR. Available before the concert.
Entrance from the Daugavas gāte.
