Dauderi offers themed events for groups

The LNMH Dauderi offers guided events for groups of friends, colleagues, or others of up to 30 people. The events are designed for a wide range of visitors – we invite you to choose a topic and format that interests your group and sign up!

Tour of the Dauderi House exhibition “History of Dauderi”

The LNMH Dauderi is housed in a luxurious, nearly 130-year-old building surrounded by the industrial district of Sarkandaugava. The story told by the Dauderi House and the Dauderi Museum exhibition is diverse and rich in contrasts, reflecting Latvia’s cultural and historical developments from the 19th to the 21st century.

During the guided tour of the renovated Dauderi exhibition, you can see the master’s room of the von Bingner villa, Kārlis Ulmanis’ study, learn about the fate of the Dauderi House during the Soviet period and its transformation into a museum. The exhibition on the second floor of the house is dedicated to the fate of Latvia’s cultural and historical heritage during the changes of the 20th century. Separate thematic exhibitions include the Collector’s Cabinet and the invisible side of the mansion – the kitchen.

What is the “biography” of the Dauderi mansion? Why was the Dauderi house recognized by contemporaries as the most beautiful private house in Riga, built in the industrial district of Sarkandaugava? Are the fireplaces, stained glass windows and ceiling paintings on display in the house original? How did the most valuable exhibit in the Dauderi Museum – Vilhelms Purvītis’ “Landscape” – end up there?

The optimal number of people in a group is 30; larger groups require two guides.

Costs:

Guide service for groups of up to 10 people, tour duration up to 90 minutes:

30 euros + admission ticket for each participant.

Guide service for groups of 11–30 people, tour duration up to 90 minutes:
40 euros + entrance ticket for each participant.

Thematic tour “Dauderi Odyssey”

The adventure tour begins at Dauderi House, which can be seen in all its glory during the tour, including rooms that are not normally accessible to visitors: the former bathroom, the attic, and the basement. The tour of the Dauderi House is followed by an exciting walk through the garden adjacent to the house.

Dauderi House, its history, various owners, and radically different functions are vivid testimonies to cultural prosperity, but at the same time, to rapid changes in political regimes, upheavals, and the ravages of war, as well as attitudes toward cultural heritage. During the tour, you can learn about the paradoxes and myths associated with the house itself, its history and various owners.

Who haunts the attic of the Dauderi House? Why was a smoking room set up in the magnificent bathroom of the Dauderi House? What did the 1990s “Aldaris” bar, located in the basement of the Dauderu House, look like?

Costs:

6 euros per person for admission (guide service included in the price, duration 90 min). Group size: 10–30 people.

Double tour with beer tasting

The tour is organized by Dauderi in cooperation with the Aldaris brewery and is only open to adults. The tour begins at the luxurious Dauderi House and ends with a beer tasting at the Aldaris brewery museum. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the Waldschlöβchen brewery, founded in 1865 (Mežpils) brewery, founded in 1865, and explore the associated Dauderi House, including the basement rooms where the Aldaris bar operated in the 1990s.

The Aldaris beer workshop, located on three floors covering an area of 800 square meters in the historic quarter of the production facility, is the first museum of its kind in Latvia and the most modern beer museum in the Baltic States. Visitors can learn about the variety of beers brewed in Latvia and elsewhere in the world, discover the secrets of beer making, and taste five different types of beer.

What could the wealthy owner of the Waldschlöβchen brewery (now Aldaris) afford when building his magnificent mansion? Who drank all the beer produced by the factory on the eve of World War I? What is the good old Gambrinus? Would you like to know why the mansion of the owner of the Waldschlöβchen brewery (now Aldaris) was chosen as the summer residence of President Kārlis Ulmanis? What was Kārlis Ulmanis’ attitude towards Aldaris products? The beer pipeline from Aldaris to Dauderi – myth or reality?

Costs:

15 euros per person for admission (guide service included in the price, duration 120 minutes). Group size: 10–30 people.

Thematic event “Tea Mornings in the Dauderi Oasis”

During the event, you can listen to surprising and unusual stories about the Dauderi house and garden in a relaxed picnic atmosphere, enjoying teas related to the stories – both the much-loved linden blossom tea and more unusual ones, such as pine bud, oak bark, chestnut blossom and hop tea. Some of these plants and trees grow right there on the Dauderi property. These tea mornings are a peaceful way to get in the mood for work: Dauderi’s magnificent garden, with its Dutch Neo-Renaissance-style house in the background, is an excellent place for new experiences and reflection.

Why were common horse chestnut trees planted along the Mīlgrāvis railway line near the Dauderi house? Where is the linden alley that formed a noble driveway from the brewery to the mansion? What kind of wood was used to make the historic wall panels, spiral staircases and massive ceiling coffering of the Dauderi House?

Costs:

10 euro admission ticket for each participant (guide service and museum visit included in the price, duration up to 90 minutes). Group size: 10–30 people.

Tour of Dauderi Garden and Park “41 Steps Above Dauderi Dune” (with a climb to the castle ruins of Dauderi Park)

The tour begins in the magnificent Dauderi Garden and continues in the park adjacent to the house, which has recently been landscaped and renovated. The water tower-artificial castle ruins have also been renovated, and climbing them allows you to appreciate the length of 41 fathoms, as well as learn about the visual evidence of the castle ruins’ history. Looking at the city from a bird’s eye view, the tour offers the opportunity to learn a lot of new things about one of the most beautiful parks in the Sarkandaugava neighborhood.

The Dauderi Park tower was visually designed to resemble ancient castle ruins – made of broken pieces of steel stone, with irregular seams, neo-Romanesque windows and doors. In addition to its economic functions, the water tower also had a well-appointed room heated by a fireplace, which offered a magnificent view of the surrounding area. In the second half of the 1930s, when Dauderi served as Kārlis Ulmanis’ summer residence and the water tower no longer fulfilled its original function, the tower’s halls were furnished with an interior that combined neo-Romanesque and “Latvian style” elements. From the 1960s, the tower was used by mountaineers for training. In 1998, the artificial castle ruins, together with the park, became a protected cultural monument of local significance in Riga, and today they are recognized as one of the most important buildings of this type in Latvia.

Which ancient Greek deity greets every visitor to the Dauderi Park castle ruins? What did Kārlis Ulmanis’s study with a fireplace look like? What items were excavated during the restoration of the Dauderi castle ruins?
